Thank you for visiting our new Internet site. we aim to show you briefly the benefits of getting rid of your tired old air cooled beetle engine for a modern water cooled subaru 1.8ltr carburettor,2.2ltr fuel injected 1.8ltr turbo,or for the more insane amongst you the impreza turbo engines as recently fitted to darryn colemans beetle seen below. darryns beetle used to be 2.2 ltr legacy engined car but now its a straight line ferrari eater( allegedly) .the fuel injected engines are controlled using the wiring harness and ecu from the same vehicle as the donor engine .
all this while keeping the original gearbox ,although built boxes are available.
above is ian sewell`s street legal 2.2ltr subaru legacy powered beetle, he wasn`t sure if he was going to run with a turbo ,nitrous or both next season.but unfortunatly he wont be doing either because the car was totally destroyed by fire at the beginning of august 2004.

although the beetle is the main recipient of these engines all vw campers or transporters(inc diesels and water cooled) are becoming more popular because of there greater reliability and better petrol consumption .in a standard swap there is approximately 50% more bhp.
getting to the serious side of things now ,the main reason for changing the engine is for the adrenaline rush from the kick in the pants you get when you put your foot down,within the speed limits of course,because we couldn`t condone you driving them to there limits or yours,(yours will probably be first).

ok its not scooby powered ,but he is in A/E and wearing my shoes.and the addition of a twisted sanity nitrous kit may have helped.14.12qtr mile @96.9mph
ian huggan`s car running a subaru legacy turbo and a sniff of twisted sanity nitrous is now running 11.23second qtr`s @127mph with a 1.55 sec 60`
in 2004 at the jap performance show.andy in his legacy turbo engined beetle was trying out his new gearbox.built by pete at cogbox.and managed to pull some monster wheelies much to the surprise of the mainly jap car owning crowd.the picture above is andy pulling a 4 foot wheelie running 11.89sec quarter at 118mph much to the surprise of the works evo 8 that he beat on that run.
